The Lost Musical Works of Willy Shakes is a new musical comedy created by Guy Hughes and Joe Leather. It tells the story of Shakespeare (aka Willy Shakes) and his Fair Youth desperately setting about rewriting his plays by adding the one crucial missing ingredient that will ensure they live on through history: show-stopping musical numbers!
Angels in Bristol (2020) - Bristol Old Vic
This project was a collaboration between Guy Hughes and Dan Jones to deliver the music for 9 short films for Christmas 2020. The project incorporated various groups from the local community, including the voices of Headley Park Primary School, heard below.
Lullaby (2020) - Greenwich and Docklands International Festival
In September 2020, a team of cyclists travelled through Plumstead at dusk playing a bespoke lullaby soundtrack to residents in their homes. Guy Hughes and Dan Jones collaborated on the music for this artwork by Luke Jerram, which included working closely with the community of Plumstead. Residents sent in recordings of themselves singing lullabies, which then formed the basis for the compositions created by Guy and Dan. To hear the full soundtrack, visit Wave Theory Records.
Crimes, Camera, Action! (2020/2021) – Theatre Royal Bath
Crimes, Camera, Action (originally made for a national tour in March 2020) is a comedy thriller made by the award-winning South West theatre company, New Old Friends. Set in 1940’s Hollywood, the music blends the rich, luscious and romantic orchestral sounds of early film scores with an ominous, cool jazz beat that depicts a classic film noir setting.
